During 2019, SHMKF participated in close to 60 events not including its classes, other classes offered at its center, or management of the Academy. We are particularly proud of the fact that SHMKF was the very first, formal Lion and Dragon performance organization, introducing these art forms to the greater Boulder/metro region, as well as the flexibility we’ve built into our activities enabling us to participant in events for pre-schoolers to a senior center; from a performance inside a restaurant with approximately 60 to a performance in a large auditorium with more than 2500 in attendance; from an outdoor, parking lot performance to a $225.00 per plate, black tie fund raiser; and more – all in the same 48 hour period. Of particular note was the number of youth and senior related lectures, workshops and seminars at such venues/schools as: WOW Children’s Museum, Casey Middle School, Primrose Pre-School, CU Boulder, Bohua Chinese School, Denver Children’s Museum, Boulder Community School of Integrated Studies, and Casey Middle School. In addition, SHMKF performed at Carillon House for Boulder’s senior population. For 2018, we have already presented performances/workshops for: WOW Children’s Museum, Casey Middle School, Summit Middle School, Primrose Pre-School, Bohua Chinese School (holds classes at Fairview High School), CU Boulder, and the Carillon Senior Center and have commitments for others. We consider such activities very rewarding as they are a sign of the broader community’s recognition and acceptance of SHMKF’s grounding in traditional history, culture and philosophy.
